Brett Franklin is a founding member of the business. He is passionate about construction, having plied his trade as a carpenter. From this, he learned about the importance of a quality finish, and he developed an eye for detail.
He has worked in Australia, Middle East and UK on a variety of construction projects.
The decision to build his own business with David felt like a natural progression, and Brett is extremely proud of the growth of the business since 2012.
To this day he gets a sense of achievement from the projects that he is involved in, and develops a strong bond with all of his work.
Brett’s professional qualifications include: NVQ level 3 advanced craft in carpentry and joinery.
Outside of work, Brett enjoys golf, gym, watching sport, traveling and spending time with family.
David Gilmore, also a founding member of the business, discovered an interest in construction whilst working in Canada in 2005. He returned to the UK and, after working with a large Yorkshire timber merchants, sought a carpentry apprenticeship which he served with Brett.
David quickly realised that he had a strong affinity with this trade, and when the opportunity came to launch a business of his own, he jumped at the chance.
As well as having a keen eye for detail, David brings a wealth of project management skills to Franklin Gilmore. Whether it is communicating progress to main contractors, or managing large teams of sub-contractors, David gets immense satisfaction from seeing how projects come together over time. He forms a connection with all the work he carries out, taking pride when delivering high end projects, and building relationship with his clients.
David’s professional qualifications include: BA Hons, Carpentry NVQ Level 3
David’s other interest include playing golf and exploring the Surrey Countryside with his family.
Clive joined the business in 2015. Clive’s varied and wide-ranging skills have been enhanced by experience gained whilst being a Director for leading architectural practices in Wales and London. This has helped develop his skills and abilities in the fields of Project Management, resourcing and programming. His major strengths lie in interpreting clients’ requirements and managing teams in the development of masterplans and designs, which result in buildings, suited for both their immediate and long-term needs. Primarily Clive’s projects are from the specialist sectors of Education, Telecommunications, Laboratories, Healthcare, High Tech Industrial, Highly Serviced Office and complex buildings, both large scale new build and refurbishment.
Over recent years Clive has been involved with the delivery of Sustainable projects and has led teams on awarding winning developments, which include: the Combined Universities in Cornwall, MoD DLO Andover and OpTIC St Asaph. All of which achieved Excellent BREEAM ratings with OpTIC St Asaph winning the Sustainable Building of the Year Award.
Prior to leaving Professional Practice Clive had active roles in the Built Environment outside of the office Chairing the CIC (Construction Industry Council) Wales BIM Hub reporting to the BIM Task Group in London, He was also a Member of the Wales Construction Skills Group (WCSG) Employers and Professional Groups, Member of the RSAW (Royal Society of Architects Wales) Leadership Group.
Clive’s varied roles in Franklin Gilmore includes Design Management of D+B Teams, Architectural Design, CDM15 Principal Designer, tenders, contracts, technical input, VE reviews, compliance with Planning and Building Regulations, Quality, Environment and Health and Safety Systems.
When Clive is not drawing up architectural designs, he enjoys country life in Yorkshire, walking, sporting events, reading, DIY and travel.
